Islamization Of Nigeria: A slothful mirage or reality?

Written by Ishaq Usman
"Islamization". This term has more than necessary, regailed our national lexicon lately. The proponents of this train, in their prebendal exercise to further its relevance, seize every conduit available to accentuate the reality of a non-reality.

But what really is the Islamization of Nigeria?

This question has as wayward an answer as the intellect of those promoting it. I'll try as much as possible,to view this topic from different precincts of thoughts peculiar to the promoters.

1) "It means Islam will be made the official religion of Nigeria". This notion is not only laughable but a puerile paradigm of exacerbated hallucinations.Nigeria has a population of about 200m.

We have a christian VP, SSG, House of reps speaker, CBN gov, FIRS boss, Finance and many more. So, with all these people occupying strategic positions in government, will Islam be made the official religion with their active connivance?

If they're only pawns in the grand scheme of things, isn't 2 years enough a time to see beyond their noses? What bill is being sponsored to this effect? GEJ attended OIC meetings but that is rather
irrelevant.

2) "It means a systematic killing of Christians with an eye on the concomitant reduction of their population". Loss of lives is not something to juggle with. However, the propensity of adoxographic
critics to metamorphose this into something that defines their whimsical inclinations is disheartening.

Southern Kaduna has been a major flashpoint. The Fulani herdsmen menace, with a historical
appendage that dredges beyond the collective memory of this government has been used to viciously purse a campaign of self-righteousness. They talk as if Muslims don't stay in SK.

FFK, a talking heavyweight, with a history regaled with inanities andntellectual inconsistencies has suddenly found his voice. A man who is only consistent in fighting a court's jurisdiction in his numerous corruption cases is now painting a Muslim Vs Christian canvass with a broomstick.

What hurts is the hero status accorded to him by Nigerians. Indeed, we're institutionally forgetful.

3) "Anyone who doesn't become a muslim will be killed". This postulations doesn't need rebuttal. Its as stupid as it gets. If PMB as GMB, with all the apparatchiks of coercion at his abligurated
disposal, didn't do it, why now??

I'm yet to see a logical definition of this term. Yes, we have bad eggs as muslims but will you throw away a crate of eggs because of a single bad one?? The alleged Islamization of Nigeria is glorifying
nothingness. In the face of unnecessary provocations, our sense of reasoning shouldn't be traded for an abacinate dance at the fountain of inanities.

No religion supports violence. This country is ours to mould. Mutual suspicion, delusional sense of self correctness, unnecessary hatred and unfounded diabolic accusations won't make this country work. We need to understand our differencies and reach out to each other. We should fish out these bad eggs amongst us and treat them accordingly.

Nothing will be more pleasing to the heart and soothing to the ears than a working Nigeria.

If things work, na we go enjoy am. Naija for us, God bless us!!
