Sheriff Replies Fayose: Respect Yourself, I Wont Join Issues

Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party, Senator Ali Modu Sheriff, has told governors elected on the platform of the party not to do anything that would further divide it. Sheriff spoke in Abuja when leaders of the party from the South-West paid him a solidarity visit.

According to Sheriff, as important as the governors are to the party, they must not do anything that will further divide the party. He particularly called on Governor Ayo Fayose of Ekiti State, who had been very vocal in criticising his leadership to “respect himself and respect the PDP.”

He continued, "For Governor Ayo Fayose, I have no issues to join with him because I cannot even comment on some of the things he says and does. Doing that would amount to coming back to his level. But I beg him to respect himself, to respect the PDP, respect Nigeria because whatever you say today, posterity will judge you. I beg him to control himself.”

He reiterated his earlier stand that the decision of the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt was a victory for every member of the PDP, adding that his desire was to work towards organising a credible convention that would produce a leadership to take PDP to higher height.

“As I said, this victory is for every member of PDP.; there is no loser. People can vent their anger but as a leader and father of everybody, I want to make sure that this party is united.”
